
The Norwegian Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, continued his brilliance with his new team, and wrote in his name a new historical record that none of the English Premier League players had preceded.
Haaland led his team, Manchester City, to sweep Bayern Munich, 3-0, in the match that was held yesterday at the Etihad Stadium, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League football competition.

The Spanish newspaper "AS" said that this number of goals was not achieved by any player in England.
The previous record was held by Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Liverpool star, and Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, former Manchester United striker, each of whom scored 44 goals in the 2017-2018 and 2002-2003 seasons, respectively.
Andy Cole, the former Manchester United and Newcastle United striker, is the first player in England to cross the 40-goal barrier in one season.
Cole scored 41 times in 45 games for Newcastle in the 1993-1994 season.

“AS” explained that Haaland continued his impressive scoring record, scoring 30 goals in the Premier League in 27 matches.

With his goal against Bayern Munich, Haaland raised his score in the Champions League to 11 goals, including 5 in one match, and his victim was Leipzig, in the second leg of the final price of the tournament.
In all, Haaland reached his 34th Champions League goal, scoring in just 26 matches.
