He surpassed Salah and Nistelroy .. Haaland's goal against Bayern Munich gives him a new record

The Norwegian Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, continued his brilliance with his new team, and wrote in his name a new historical record that none of the English Premier League players had preceded.

Haaland led his team, Manchester City, to sweep Bayern Munich, 3-0, in the match that was held yesterday at the Etihad Stadium, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League football competition.

Haaland made the second goal for his Portuguese colleague Bernardo Silva, while he himself ensured by scoring the third goal, raising his score to 45 goals, in 39 matches in all tournaments, since the start of the current season 2022-2023.

The Spanish newspaper "AS" said that this number of goals was not achieved by any player in England.

The previous record was held by Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Liverpool star, and Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, former Manchester United striker, each of whom scored 44 goals in the 2017-2018 and 2002-2003 seasons, respectively.

Andy Cole, the former Manchester United and Newcastle United striker, is the first player in England to cross the 40-goal barrier in one season.

Cole scored 41 times in 45 games for Newcastle in the 1993-1994 season.

And his compatriot Harry Kane returned to repeat the same achievement (41 goals), but this time in 48 games in all competitions, which he played with Tottenham Hotspur in the 2017-2018 season.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, currently the Saudi Al-Nasr striker, managed to score 42 goals in 49 matches with Manchester United in the 2007-2008 season.

“AS” explained that Haaland continued his impressive scoring record, scoring 30 goals in the Premier League in 27 matches.

In addition, the Norwegian striker scored 3 times in two FA Cup matches, and another goal in two League Cup matches.

With his goal against Bayern Munich, Haaland raised his score in the Champions League to 11 goals, including 5 in one match, and his victim was Leipzig, in the second leg of the final price of the tournament.

In all, Haaland reached his 34th Champions League goal, scoring in just 26 matches.
