Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky participated with a number of Ukrainian Muslim soldiers in a Ramadan Iftar dinner on Friday near the capital, Kiev, and handed them awards. Zelensky criticized Russia's treatment of the Muslim Tatars in Crimea, pledging to restore the peninsula from Russia.
"Ukraine is grateful to the Muslims of our country and to all Muslims in the world who, like us, yearn for peace and protection from evil," Zelensky said. He added, "There is no alternative for Ukraine or the world but to end the occupation of Crimea… We will return to Crimea."
