urgent | Axios reporter for the US National Security Council: Biden's senior advisors discussed with the Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah an end to the Yemen war

A spokesman for the US National Security Council said that President Joe Biden's advisor for Middle East affairs, Brett McGurk, the US envoy for energy, Amos Hochstein, and the US envoy for Yemen, Timothy Lenderking, discussed with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi officials efforts to end the war in Yemen.

The spokesman added – in a statement to Al-Jazeera – that US officials emphasized the importance that President Biden attaches to ending the conflict in Yemen.

The statement also stated that US officials affirmed US support for defending Saudi Arabia against threats from Yemen or elsewhere.
