“It is not possible to spend millions on a player and then leave him.” Guardiola: We work 24 hours a day to keep Haaland

Spanish Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, the English Premier League title holder, confirmed that the medical staff of his team is working all the time to maintain the readiness of the Norwegian striker and scorer, Erling Haaland.

Haaland joined City from Borussia Dortmund before the start of the current season, and the Norwegian striker scored 47 goals with the team in all competitions, which is a record for any English Premier League player.

There were concerns about Haaland's fitness before his move to City, after he missed 16 matches with Dortmund last season, but the Premier League's top scorer has only missed 4 matches for City this season.

"I don't know what he did in Dortmund, but we take care of him 24 hours a day," Guardiola said. "We have great doctors and specialists, and they support him every second of the day. It's hard to understand why you spend so much money (on a player) and then leave him. I don't know." What other clubs do?

Guardiola stressed that it is important to maintain Haaland's readiness, given that City plays a match every 3 or 4 days.

City ranks second in the league, 3 points behind leaders Arsenal, and City also competes in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Haaland led his team, Manchester City, to sweep Bayern Munich, 3-0, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the European Champions League, by scoring a goal and making another.

Today, Saturday, Haaland scored two goals in the Manchester City match against Leicester City in the 31st round of the English Premier League, raising his score to 47 goals, in 40 matches in all tournaments, since the start of the current season 2022-2023.

And the Spanish newspaper "AS" stated that this outcome was not possible for any player in England to reach it.

The previous record was held by Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Liverpool star, and Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, former Manchester United striker, each of whom scored 44 goals in the 2017-2018 and 2002-2003 seasons, respectively.

With his goal against Bayern Munich, Haaland raised his score in the Champions League to 11 goals, including 5 in one match, and his victim was Leipzig, in the second leg of the final price of the tournament.

In all, Haaland reached his 34th Champions League goal, scoring in just 26 matches.
