Islamabad. May 26 (APP): Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel has said that the presence of polio virus in the environment is a big threat to the health of children. According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Friday, he said that there is no cure for polio, only the vaccine provides life-long protection to children. The campaign continues.
He urged the parents to give their children polio vaccine. The Pakistan Polio Program is constantly on the lookout for the virus and is fully capable of stopping the presence of poliovirus wherever it is found. He said that the confirmation of the virus in Hangu will help in tracing the populations where the immunity of the residents is low and the supply of polio and other vaccines will be arranged in such areas. Only one polio case and 7 positive environmental samples have been reported in Pakistan so far this year.
