November 28 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, expressed satisfaction over the availability and production of sugar in the country to maintain strategic reserves of sugar and provide maximum relief to the people. It has insisted on maintaining sugar prices.
He said this while presiding over a meeting held here on Monday to review the supply and demand situation of sugar in the country. In the meeting, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Tariq Bajwa, Adviser to the Prime Minister For Revenue, Tariq Mahmood Pasha, Secretary, National Food Security and Research, Special Secretary Finance, National Food Security and Research and other senior officers of the Ministry of Finance also participated.
In the meeting, the situation of available stock of sugar in the country and its future demand was reviewed and it was informed that there is ample stock of sugar in the country.
It was informed in the meeting that sugar mills have started crushing sugarcane in the provinces of Sindh and Punjab. It was informed in the meeting that due to floods, the production of sugar in Sindh province will be less than last year.
The Federal Finance Minister expressed satisfaction over the availability and production of sugar in the country and stressed on maintaining sugar prices to maintain strategic sugar reserves and provide maximum relief to the public.
