Xinhua News Agency, Dhaka, November 23 (Reporter Liu Chuntao) The third phase of the Bangladesh government infrastructure network project supported by Chinese funds and undertaken by Chinese companies held a completion ceremony in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on the 22nd.
This project is an important part of the Bangladesh government's "Digital Bangladesh" strategy. Based on the first and second phases of the project, the network will be extended to more than 2,600 administrative units at the lowest level, covering 62% of the country's regions and population. The "information superhighway" spreads from the capital to all parts of the country, benefiting about 100 million people. The project uses preferential loans from the Export-Import Bank of China. The general contractor is China Railway International Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway International), and the main subcontractor is Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
At the ceremony, Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology of Bangladesh, expressed his gratitude to China Railway International and Huawei for their continuous support in building "Digital Bangladesh".
Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Momen said that the project is one of the important projects in building "Digital Bangladesh". "Our friendly country, China, has helped us tremendously in implementing this major infrastructure project."
Li Jiming, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, said that the successful cooperation between China and Bangladesh in the fields of information and communication technology will contribute to the further integration of the "Digital Silk Road" and "Digital Bangladesh" and benefit the people of the two countries. As a good friend and strategic partner of Bangladesh, China will work with Bangladesh to explore more high-end industrial cooperation opportunities and promote the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road".
