Xinhua News Agency, Bangkok, November 18 (Reporter Wang Yaguang and Jiang Jiang) The 29th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting opened on November 18 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. With the theme of "Openness, Connectivity, and Balance," the conference focuses on balanced, inclusive, and sustainable growth of the Asia-Pacific and world economies, promotes trade and investment cooperation, and jointly addresses challenges.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the meeting. In his speech, he said that Thailand is honored to host the first offline meeting of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in four years, and to discuss regional economic recovery and future development plans with leaders of various members.
Prayut pointed out that Thailand adopts bio-economy, circular economy and green economy models to support economic recovery and achieve a stronger, balanced, sustainable and inclusive long-term development vision, and introduce them into the discussion of this meeting to promote the realization of sustainable development Target.
APEC is the highest-level, most extensive and most influential economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC has five levels of operating mechanisms: leaders' informal meetings, ministerial meetings, senior officials' meetings, committees and working groups, and the secretariat. Among them, the leaders' informal meeting is the highest-level meeting of APEC.
