The Venezuelan government and the opposition signed a phased agreement in Mexico

Xinhua News Agency, Mexico City, November 26 (Reporters Wu Hao, Xu Ye) The Venezuelan government delegation and the opposition delegation held a dialogue in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, on November 26. The two sides signed a phased agreement.
According to the agreement, the two sides proposed a series of social security measures, including strengthening the national public health system, strengthening the stability of the power system, expanding food security projects, and paying attention to public education infrastructure, etc. The two sides also agreed to set up a special committee to jointly deal with overseas funds "frozen" by Western countries, and the United Nations and the Norwegian government participating in the mediation will send staff to coordinate and supervise.
The Venezuelan government delegation participating in the dialogue was led by Jorge Rodriguez, chairman of the Venezuelan National Congress, and the opposition delegation was led by former MP Gerardo Bled.
Venezuelan President Maduro said through social media on the 26th that the signing of this agreement opens a new chapter for Venezuela and will continue to promote national peace and social welfare.
Under the mediation of the Norwegian government, the Venezuelan government and the opposition have held several rounds of dialogue. The most recent dialogue took place in Mexico City in August 2021, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Analysts believe that the Venezuelan government is looking forward to seeking the lifting of US sanctions on Venezuela through dialogue, while the opposition is looking forward to holding a "free and fair" general election. Since the dialogue was unsustainable, the Venezuelan government announced the suspension of the dialogue in October of the same year.
Maduro won re-election in presidential elections held in May 2018. The United States does not recognize the results of the election and supports Guaido, who was elected chairman of the Commission's parliament in January 2019 and proclaimed himself "interim president". In April 2019, Guaido's political plot failed, and his domestic and international support continued to decline.
