The 4th World Forum on Science, Technology and Development was held in Chengdu

China Newspaper, Chengdu, November 27th (Reporter Li Kaixuan) On November 27th, the 4th World Science, Technology and Development Forum with the theme of "Openness, Trust, and Cooperation" was held in Chengdu. More than 300 top experts and scholars, representatives of international organizations and entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries and regions, including 7 Nobel Prize winners and more than 60 domestic and foreign academicians, discussed basic science, climate change, Scientific and technological innovation and sustainable development in important fields such as digital economy and green innovation, and propose scientific and technological innovation solutions to the challenges of the times.
The world today is facing challenges such as the new crown pneumonia epidemic, energy security, food security, climate change, poverty, and biodiversity, and it is urgent for the international community to jointly respond. Scientific and technological innovations such as artificial intelligence, life sciences, quantum information, and aerospace have advanced by leaps and bounds, becoming key variables affecting the global pattern and the first driving force leading sustainable development.
Hou Jianguo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said in his speech that how to achieve sustainable development is an important issue facing mankind, and each country cannot be alone and must work together to deal with it. The Chinese Academy of Sciences looks forward to working hand in hand with more scientific research institutions and researchers around the world to jointly explore the unknown world and realize technological change.
The 4th World Forum on Science, Technology and Development is jointly hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. After being successfully held for three consecutive sessions, the forum has actively built a bridge connecting the global scientific and technological community, and has become an open platform to better advocate and promote cooperation in the international scientific and technological community. This forum will sort out and put forward the "Ten Annual Scientific Issues of Human Social Development", and release the "Basic Science to Promote Sustainable Development Initiative", "Annual Top Ten Emerging Technologies in the Field of Chemistry" and other achievements.
