Yonhap News Agency, Seoul, November 23 (Xinhua) South Korean President Yin Xiyue presided over the first export strategy meeting on the 23rd, and proposed the goal of making South Korea the fifth largest exporting country in the world.
The first export strategy meeting was held at the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Corporation (KOTRA) in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the same day. The President’s Office, the Ministry of Planning and Finance, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Resources and other related departments, private associations and enterprises, KOTRA, Korea Export-Import Bank, etc. More than 40 people including heads of export-related agencies attended the meeting.
According to the Presidential Office, Yin Xiyue said at the meeting that 10 years ago, South Korea turned crisis into opportunity under the global financial crisis and jumped to become the seventh largest exporting country in the world. In the face of the current global complex crisis, we must gather strength and strive to become the fifth largest exporting country in the world. To this end, the government should actively implement forward-looking support policies, and readjust all systems and policies such as industrial strategies and financial systems with the goal of stimulating exports.
Yin Xiyue said that it is necessary to formulate an export strategy tailored to local conditions, and find out and solve the difficulties faced by various enterprises in export in a timely manner. He will preside over the export strategy meeting to personally examine the relevant export strategy and issues. Yin Xiyue said that the president's diplomatic activities are all for the economy and security. Apart from security matters on the Korean peninsula, all foreign visits should focus on economic issues.
In this regard, Presidential Economic Secretary Choi Sang-mok said that South Korea and Saudi Arabia signed a total of 26 contracts and memorandums of understanding on the occasion of the meeting between Yin Xiyue and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It is more likely that the agreement will actually be implemented. With the gradual implementation of the "Neom City" construction project with a scale of more than 500 billion US dollars, it is expected to achieve greater results. The two countries will jointly check the progress of the above-mentioned contracts and memorandums of understanding through the bilateral economic cooperation platform – "Hansha Vision 2030 Committee".
