South Korean F-35A fighter jet simulates bombing North Korean missile vehicle for the first time

Yonhap News Agency, Seoul, November 18th. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (Joint Staff) stated on the 18th that several Air Force F-35A stealth fighter jets used the North Korean missile launch vehicle as an imaginary enemy and used GBU-12 laser-guided bombs at the Bisheng shooting range in Gangwon-do. Implement bombing exercises to counter North Korea's launch of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) on the same day.

The joint staff explained that the exercise demonstrated the ability to covertly approach the enemy's precision strike target. It is not uncommon for F-35A to conduct bombing exercises, but it is the first time that it is used to counter North Korean provocations. The simulated missile launch vehicle was used as the bombing target because the South Korean army detected that the North Korean army used a missile vehicle to launch an intercontinental missile that day. In addition, four F-35A fighter jets of the South Korean Air Force and four F-16 fighter jets of the U.S. Air Force are also flying in formation in the eastern waters of the Korean Peninsula.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the above-mentioned actions demonstrate the firm determination of the South Korea-US alliance to resolutely deal with all threats, including the North Korean intercontinental ballistic missiles, and the overwhelming strength and combat readiness to quickly and accurately strike the enemy.

North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Sunan area of Pyongyang City to the eastern waters at about 10:15 a.m. on the same day. The flight altitude reached about 6,100 kilometers, the flight distance was about 1,000 kilometers, and the flight speed was about Mach 22. After analysis, this missile is the same type as the "Hwasong-17" launched on the 3rd of this month. Since this type of missile was unveiled in October 2020, it is the first time that it has flown normally at the level detected that day. (Finish)

South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: South Korea and Japan have narrowed their differences on the issue of forced labor claims Yonhap News Agency, Seoul, November 29 (Xinhua) South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an interview with reporters on the 29th that it is true that the differences between South Korea and Japan on the issue of compensation for forced expropriation against Japan under negotiation have narrowed. South Korea and Japan are discussing more specific solutions, but it is too early to say which particular plan is being focused on. South Korean President Yoon Seok-yue held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the 13th, and the foreign ministries of the two countries held a director-level dialogue in Tokyo on the 24th to conduct close consultations on the issue of forced expropriation and compensation. It has been observed that the so-called candidate plan for narrowing differences may be carried out by the Japanese Imperial Forced Victim Support Foundation in South Korea in the form of repaying debts to victims, and the funds are raised by South Korean and Japanese private companies, rather than directly asking for compensation. Some experts believe that the third party's acquisition of the debt of the defendant Japanese company does not require the consent of the creditor, that is, the victim, but there are also objections within the legal profession. The victim believes that even if the debt is paid off by a third party, the defendant company must apologize and participate in fundraising, but there is no clear signal that the Japanese side is willing to accept it.
