The US on Wednesday urged the International Court of Justice (ICJ) not to issue an advisory opinion that Israel should “immediately and unconditionally withdraw” from territories sought for a Palestinian state. The UN’s top court is hearing arguments from 52 countries and three international organisations this week. It comes as Israel’s parliament on Wednesday voted to back Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s declaration opposing the “unilateral” creation of a Palestinian state.
