A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man found dead at a Lake Wylie park in June, York County sheriff’s deputies say.
Deputies said 17-year-old Zi’Quavious Jkwon La’Travis Caldwell was taken into custody in Rock Hill on Saturday following a two-month-long intensive investigation into the death of 20-year-old Terron “TJ” Hubert.
The York County Sheriff’s Office said a woman walking in a park near Lake Wylie found Hubert’s body on June 6.
Deputies said Hubert, of Clover, was found shot several times near a walking trail at Quigley Park on Astor Court and Warwick Circle.
The sheriff’s office said the woman was walking the trail at around 6:30 a.m. when she found Hubert and called EMS.
A deputy arrived to find Hubert lying on the ground by the fishing pier and gazebo and was able to confirm that he was dead.
Caldwell is being charged as an adult for murder, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

“No murder gets old, and every victim matters. That’s why our detectives worked relentlessly for countless hours to develop a suspect in this case,” said Sheriff Kevin Tolson. “Thankfully with this development we hope the grieving family can find some rest.”
Deputies believe the shooting took place after an argument between Caldwell and Hubert broke out about Caldwell stealing money and personal items from Hubert.
Deputies said it happened between 11:30 p.m. and midnight on June 5. The park entrance that leads to where the murder happened is at the end of Astor Court, they said.
Hubert’s mother, Quadrena Adams, said she finally has some relief amid the tragedy.
“It consumed us daily, every day like nobody could think straight, nobody could focus,” Adams said. “Every day I think about him being left out there all night. being left out there by himself. I feel like I get sucker punched.”
Adams was at the court where Caldwell had his first appearance before a magistrate. She said she didn’t believe Caldwell showed any remorse.
“At the end of the day, your family can see you. I’ll never seen my son again because of you,” Adams said.
Caldwell is being held in the York County Jail without bond.
‘You’ve got to be a very mean and cruel person to hurt TJ’
Mya Alexander-Williams talked to Channel 9′s Tina Terry by phone about the young man she said was like a nephew to her.
“You’ve got to be a very mean and cruel person to hurt TJ,” she said. “He didn’t have an enemy, everybody loved him.”
“He always smiled, he always laughed,” she added.
Hubert, known to his loved ones as TJ, grew up in the Clover community.
“TJ was the most amazing kid,” Alexander-Williams said. “He was respectful, he was humble, he was funny, he loved his mom, his dad, his grandmother.”
Quigley Park sits behind a gated apartment complex off of Charlotte Highway. Family members said TJ did not live there, and investigators have not released a motive.
On Wednesday night, the Clover community gathered to remember TJ — including his former principal at Clover High School. As they grieve, they’re calling on anyone with information that could help solve the murder to come forward.
“TJ deserves justice — his mom, his dad, his family, his friends,” Alexander-Williams said. “They need to know what happened and why this happened, and there is somebody out there that knows something that can give them that peace.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Askew at 803-628-3059 or Crime Stoppers of York County.
