
Jan. 1—An 18-year-old Manchester man was charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a stabbing outside the Mall at Rockingham Park last week in Salem, police said.
Ronald Joseph Marino III, 18, was arrested Tuesday and a 14-year-old boy was arrested Monday, said Capt. Jason Smith of the Salem Police Department. The 14-year-old boy’s name and residence were not released because he is a juvenile.
On Dec. 26, a 20-year-old man from Windham was stabbed in the abdomen and chest during a robbery around 8 p.m. in an area outside the food court. Police have not released the name of the victim, who was first taken to Lawrence General Hospital in Massachusetts before being flown by helicopter to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man survived surgery, was conscious and in critical but stable condition. The victim knew at least one of the accused attackers and was able to provide details leading to their arrests, Smith said Wednesday.
Marino was charged with attempted first-degree murder during a robbery, first-degree assault with serious bodily injury, armed robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 14-year-old was charged with first-degree assault, armed robbery, attempted murder and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
A short time after the incident, Catholic Medical Center staff reported that a stabbing victim with a knife wound to his arm arrived at their emergency room. The victim was identified as being involved in the incident in Salem, police said.
Salem detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Londonderry overnight related to the investigation. The vehicle seen fleeing the scene at the mall parking lot was found abandoned in Salem.

Marino was held without bail at the Rockingham County jail in Brentwood and is scheduled to be arraigned via video Thursday morning in Salem District Court.
