A Cape Coral man driving a sedan and his passenger were arrested after the driver crashed through a fence, hit a home off Interstate 75 and then fled the scene.
The sedan was heading south on I-75 at about 9 a.m. on Saturday in the right lane near mile marker 143.It traveled off the roadway, collided with a fence and then smashed into a home on Williamsburg Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
After the collision, the driver, identified as Brenden Dennis McCarthy, 24, and his passenger fled the scene on foot, FHP said. McCarthy was found and arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a traffic crash involving property damage, driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His passenger, identified as Rachel Lynn Wright, 24 of Cape Coral, was also found and arrested for an active felony warrant, FHP said. Both had only minor injuries.

Residents were inside the home at the time of collision but had no injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
