2 women die from injuries in Friday’s multi-vehicle crash in Hattiesburg

Two Hattiesburg women have died from the injuries they sustained in a multi-vehicle wreck in Hattiesburg on Friday.

The women were identified as 66-year-old Peggy Herron and 56-year-old Lisa Foster.

Hattiesburg police said in an email Wednesday that another victim is in critical condition but reportedly stable. Three others suffered minor injuries.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 59 near the 66-mile marker.

One of the injured persons was airlifted from the scene. Two others were taken to a local hospital for treatment following the wreck.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
