Darnell Wright is the first Tennessee Vol to be taken in the 2023 NFL Draft going No. 10 to the Bears. Chicago was in need of a potential Day 1 starter on its offensive line to protect franchise quarterback Justin Fields.
Philadelphia moves up one spot to No. 9
The Eagles moved into the top 10, selecting Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter after swapping picks with the Chicago Bears.
The Bears had the draft’s No. 1 pick when the season ended after the Super Bowl but traded that pick with the Carolina Panthers two months ago, moving down to No. 9. Philly came in and swapped picks minutes before drafting Carter.
Arizona Cardinals make second trade in draft’s first six picks
The Cardinals traded its No. 3 pick to Houston and the Texans selected Alabama defensive end Will Anderson Jr. while Arizona moved down to No. 12. But the Cardinals are on the move again, trading back into the top 10, moving up to No. 6 in a trade with the Detroit Lions.

NFL honors Virginia football players killed last November
The NFL opened its 2023 Draft by honoring the memory of three Virginia Cavalier football players who were shot and killed on a bus transporting students back to UVA after returning from a class field trip Nov. 13.
Devin Chandler, D’Sean Perry and Lavel Davis Jr. were remembered as each of the players’ families were presented with a jersey with the players’ names on the back Thursday night in Kansas City.
Virginia will open the 2023 college football season against the Tennessee Vols, Sept. 2, at Nissan Stadium. It’ll be the program’s first game since the university decided to cancel the remainder of the 2022 season in the wake of their deaths.

Titans in on potential trade for Arizona WR DeAndre Hopkins?
With over an hour before the start of the NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans have seen their name thrown into a potential trade scenario involving Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
The Cardinals would send the No. 3 pick along with Hopkins for the Titans’ 11th selection, according to ProFootballTalk.
