2025 Grammys: Live updates as nominees are announced

Music’s biggest night isn’t until Feb. 2, but the 67th annual Grammy Awards are gearing up to be a show not to be missed.

Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli XCX, who all skyrocketed to fame this year, are each predicted to earn nods for Album of the Year. Carpenter and Roan could be up for nominations in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist categories as well. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter was also submitted for nominations in all four major country categories and could compete in the major categories too.

The 66th annual Grammy Awards delivered a number of monumental music moments. Taylor Swift made history as the first artist to win Album of the Year four times. She also announced the release of her newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Miley Cyrus performed her hit single “Flowers,” Spotify’s most-streamed song of 2023, which also won Record of the Year. Victoria Monét was named Best New Artist, and Billie Eilish and Finneas won Song of the Year for “What Was I Made For” from the Barbie soundtrack.

Expect this year’s awards show to be a must-see event.

Kirk Franklin, Kylie Minogue, Ben Platt and Hayley Williams are among the stars set to announce this year’s newest crop of nominees.

  • Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter among singers on ballot for Best New Artist

One of the biggest awards at the Grammys is Best New Artist, with past winners including Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Adele and John Legend. Who will join the prestigious group in 2025?

Sabrina Carpenter (“Espresso”), Chappell Roan (“Good Luck, Babe!”), Benson Boone (“Beautiful Things”), Shaboozey (“A Bar Song (Tipsy)”) and Teddy Swims (“Lose Control”) are all eligible this year and considered frontrunners to make the cut.

Some wonder how Carpenter can be considered in the category when she just released her sixth album in August. Is she really new?

According to Grammys’ rules and guidelines, “eligible artists must have achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and impacted the musical landscape during the year’s eligibility period.”

It’s clear Carpenter had breakthrough relevance since Sept. 15, 2023, the final day of the previous eligibility year.
