Morrisons is giving away free food for the next fortnight

There’s no reason to go hungry if you’re near a Morrisons over the next couple of weeks.

A number of schemes are running at the supermarket giving away free food between now and July 14.

Morrisons has partnered with Heinz to bring back the popular ‘Ask For Henry’ initiative, where anyone who ‘Asks for Henry’ will get a free jacket potato topped with Heinz Cheesy Beanz – no questions asked.

The retailer is also giving away free donuts as part of its 125th anniversary. Customers are entitled to a free jam doughnut when they purchase any hot drink in a Morrisons Café.

Families might also want to make use of the kids eat free deal, which runs in cafes seven days a week and means kids can get a meal for free with every adult meal purchased for £5 or more.

It includes the likes of chicken nuggets, chips and beans, bangers and mash or mac ‘n’ cheese, which would usually be £3.50 each, and is also available on the Kids Pick n Mix meal deal from the fridge.

The Ask for Henry initiative follows on from previous campaigns in 2022 and 2023 which saw Morrisons and Heinz feed tens of thousands of customers. Jacket potatoes will now be topped with cheese to offer customers a delicious meal.

Chris Strong, Morrisons cafe senior buying manager, said: “Customers continue to tell us how grateful they were for our previous ‘Ask for Henry’ initiatives and so we’re really pleased to be bringing it back.

“We know that the busy summer months can add to customers’ financial pressures, especially with extra mouths to feed, so we’re pleased to be partnering with Heinz and offering this delicious meal.”

Alessandra de Dreuille, Heinz director of meals and insights, said: “We have had an overwhelmingly positive response from our previous ‘Ask for Henry’ initiatives with Morrisons, and so we’re thrilled to be able to bring it back for a third year, and this time with our new Cheesy Beanz for all to enjoy. This offer is open to absolutely everyone – and so we’d encourage anyone who feels they need a warming meal to head to their local Morrisons cafe.

“Here at Heinz, we’re passionate about helping solve food poverty in the UK, and whilst we know this offer won’t fix the issue, we’re pleased to be able to help as many people as we can over this two-week summer period.”

The free jam donut will be gifted to customers when they purchase any hot drink, including tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Becky Wilson, cafe buyer at Morrisons, said: “There is no better way to celebrate our 125th anniversary than by treating our customers to one of our most iconic Market Street products – our freshly baked donuts. So delicious, they often don’t make it out of the car park.”
