IDENTIFIED: Man killed in deadly crash near Fresno highway

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The man killed following a crash into a concrete wall near Highway 180 and Peach Avenue in Fresno earlier this week was identified Saturday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Officials say 62-year-old John Jones of Fresno was the man who was in the vehicle that crashed Wednesday night.

According to the CHP, they received a call at approximately 8:45 p.m. regarding a vehicle that had crashed Highway 180 at the Peach Avenue offramp.

Officers say a John Jones was in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado when he exited at Peach Avenue traveling east. His pick-up drifted to the right off the roadway before striking a sign, then a chain-linked fence, and ultimately veering into the concrete wall of a loading dock.

Jones was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where officials say he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Officers say alcohol may have been involved; however, the investigation is ongoing.
