ITV star Matthew Wright shares “grim” health update following hospital visit

ITV star Matthew Wright has shared a “grim” health update following a recent hospital visit.

Earlier this month, the presenter revealed he had been rushed to hospital after experiencing severe neck pain while moving house.

After previously sharing he had “definitely improved” after resting and taking medication, Wright has now revealed that the pain has returned.

In an series of updates on Twitter/X, Wright began by explaining he was awaiting an MRI and steroid injection which he hoped would “do the job”.

Just a few hours later, he revealed he was back in hospital, writing: “Unbelievable. I’m back in hospital after the nerve kicked off big time, screaming grinding pain.

“Paramedics once again incredible but no resolution on the horizon which is a bit grim frankly.”

“Another excellent @nhs experience,” Wright later wrote. “More drugs, stronger ones and a hope things might improve in the next couple of weeks. F***ing hope so coz I’ve had enough of this already. Thanks for your good wishes again.”

Fans quickly took to the comments section to share their well wishes, with one writing: “Oh mate, I really feel for you. I hope something can be done soon, to find a permanent resolution.”

Another added: “I’m sorry you’re going through this. It can really wear you down emotionally and psychologically. Just remember to be kind to yourself and heal.”

A third echoed the sentiment: “Genuinely feel so much for you, worst pain ever and [so] debilitating. Really hope you get things sorted and it calms down.”

Wright notably hosted Channel 5 debate show The Wright Stuff from 2000 to 2018, with Jeremy Vine replacing him as host.

In November 2023, he replaced Andrew Castle as the new host of LBC’s Weekend Breakfast show, as well as landing a regular role on This Morning to discuss current affairs.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
