Many people take on extra work to afford the finer things in life, though some reckon it’s too much of a faff. Yet, one man has proven that making a bit of spare cash needn’t be a slog. A quick trip to Aldi turned into a lucrative venture for him. So how did he do it?
A TikTok user by the name @aftermarketarbitrage shared his method for raking in over £850 in just over an hour “from Aldi”, and he’s not even on their payroll. He boasted about spotting a bargain with label makers at the store, part of Aldi’s special buys. “They cost £15 each, and on Amazon, they sell for… well, I’m gonna tell you at the end”, he explained.
Admitting to filling his basket to the brim with them, he snapped up 24 label makers. Not stopping there, he hit another store to grab more. With “another 28 units” in tow, he quipped about the bemused expressions of fellow shoppers witnessing his haul. He could have continued his spree, but chose to head home to start cashing in.
He detailed how he prepped the items for shipment, “ready to be picked up by UPS in the morning”. Selling at £37 each on Amazon, he was looking at a tidy £16 profit per item .”And that figure is after Amazon fees”, he pointed out. Totalling 52 units, he flaunted a profit of £859, minus a negligible £4 for Amazon FBA shipping.
In the end, he pocketed £855 profit “for 70 minutes work”. However, some critics were not impressed. One commented: “It’s only profit when it’s in the bank and you’re spending it. Otherwise it’s called ‘stock’ and if Aldi are selling them your 60 units will take a while to sell.”
In response, he pointed out that these items had “already sold”. When another user questioned the timeline for sales, he stated it was “around 4-5 days”.
Still, one TikToker remained sceptical, remarking: “If I was doing this and smashing the profit I’d be keeping it quiet not advertising it on social media.”
