A Madison County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with DUI for allegedly driving drunk and causing a wreck that sent a motorcyclist to a hospital, according to Kentucky State Police.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday on Charlie Norris Road in Madison County. KSP said Jonathon Thompson of Richmond, pulled in front of Preston Lambart, 21, of Richmond, on Charlie Norris Road and came to a stop while attempting to make a left-hand turn into a residence. Lambart collided with the rear of Thompson’s vehicle.
Thompson is a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. KSP said he was off-duty at the time of the collision.
Lambart was transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to KSP. It’s unknown if Thompson was injured in the collision.
Thompson exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested, KSP said. He is facing charges of DUI (first offense) and second-degree assault.
He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, KSP said. KSP is investigating the collision.
