Manchester United are internally ‘considering’ a move for England striker Ivan Toney this summer – despite adding Joshua Zirkzee to their ranks – but there is one significant catch over a would-be transfer. Interest from United has been flagged up by GiveMeSport with speculation on Toney at fever pitch.
The 28-year-old is said to have Arsenal, Chelsea and other Premier League sides chasing his signature. However, a revived switch to Old Trafford could happen if Brentford reduce their asking price.
Toney only has 12 months to run on his contract with the Bees. The former Peterborough striker could be available for under £40million, though, putting United on red alert.

Of course, the Old Trafford giants will have to take wage demands into account – and there being enough room in their squad – but the Brentford man underlined his talent on the biggest stage this summer when featuring at Euro 2024 for heartbroken finalists England. He scored an important penalty in their quarter-final shootout win.
Elsewhere, reports from the same publication reckon United are poised to add Chelsea ace Trevoh Chalobah to their defensive shopping list this summer after he was left out of the club’s pre-season tour squad. With highly-rated French youngster Leny Yoro already on board, United are open to further additions at centre-back – although proposed sales will play a key part.
Ineos want to generate funds before pressing on with their next transfer swoop. Chalobah, 25, could be deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge with £25million cited as a ballpark asking price for his signature. As per GiveMeSport, though, the Blues might be driven down in price if a reasonable offer comes along.
Chalobah is able to operate at right-back and centre-back. That versatility is thought to make him a real target for United amid uncertainty over Aaron Wan-Bissaka and others.
