Mets trade lefty Josh Walker to Pirates

The Mets have officially traded left-handed reliever Josh Walker to the Pittsburgh Pirates for minor leaguer Nicolas Carreno, who was pitching in the DSL.

Walker was designated for assignment last week in order for the Mets to create room on the 40-man roster following the acquisition of right-hander Ryne Stanek.

In parts of two seasons for New York, Walker had a 6.45 ERA (4.50 FIP) and 1.65 WHIP in 22.1 innings over 24 appearances.

He appeared in 10 games this season, pitching to a 5.11 ERA (3.89 FIP) while striking out 8.0 batters per nine and walking 4.4 per nine.

Additionally, right-hander Shintaro Fujinami will remain in the organization and has been sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse after clearing through waivers this week.
