DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The man accused of hitting and dragging a child has been indicted on multiple charges.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. announced the indictment of Jeffrey Jay Atkinson, 55, of Dayton.
Atkinson is accused of striking and dragging a girl on July 22 in Dayton.

Heck reports Atkinson was indicted on the following charges:

2 counts of aggravated vehicular assault

1 count of child endangering
-
1 count of failure to stop after an accident

1 count of OVI
“When a selfish, careless drunk is behind the wheel, no one is safe,” said Heck. “As they were
waiting on the side of the road for an ambulance, this little girl said to the officers, “I don’t want to die! Is this a dream?” Our prayers are with her as she begins her lengthy recovery.”
Atkinson is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
