Aug. 10—A dispute at a Manchester hookah bar early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a man who allegedly fired a gun into the air multiple times, and the kerfuffle over attempts to clear the area led to two more arrests, city police said in a news release Saturday. The city also suspended the bar’s business license after the incident.
Manchester Police responded to a report of shots fired outside the Babylon Hookah Lounge on Maple Street about 2:45 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses told officers that a man, later identified by police as Dominick Lundrigan, 23, of Ossipee had an altercation inside that spilled out onto the sidewalk. Bar staff closed the doors and told Lundrigan he wasn’t allowed back inside, according to the report; afterward several gunshots were heard coming from the parking lot.
Police determined that Lundrigan, who was still at the scene when they arrived, had fired a gun multiple times into the air, and they arrested him on a charge or reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
Officers’ attempts to clear people from the parking lot for the investigation led to further conflict, including two more arrests — one on charges of disorderly conduct and one on disorderly conduct and simple assault.
In a separate news release, police also announced the suspension of the business license for Babylon Hookah Lounge under a city ordinance that allows immediate revocation in cases of immediate danger to the public. The release cited previous incidents of health, fire and safety infractions, but did not offer details. The bar is closed pending a hearing process.
