The festival wrapped up with a performance from Italian dancers each representing a different region in Italy.

One chef said the weekend was a big success with clear weather and a great turnout from the community.

“I can tell you that we’re probably going to go through 3,000 cannolis and we’ve made 1,300 cream puffs, and that’s almost gone. About 6,000 to 7,000 cookies…It’s been a wonderful experience,” said Luigi Pontillo, Italian Festival captain.

Pontillo added the Italian community in Erie has dwindled in the past years, and it is important to bring the community together to celebrate their heritage.
