Manchester:(Report by Saghir Alam) According to global times news agency Europe, the 77th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at the consulate General of Pakistan today.
Consular General Tariq Wazir hoisted Pakistani flag with the national anthem in the backdrop also sung by all the attendees. The messages of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the nation on the auspicious occasion were read out to the audience by senior officers of the Consulate. Both the leaders emphasized the need to remain united to preserve the independence and path towards development and prosperity. The messages also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to extend moral, legal and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir. Local singers performed on Pakistani cultural songs appreciated by the audience. The event was attended by Manchester lord Mayors, MP Afzal Khan, KPK Provincial Assembly MPA Bushra Arif and her husband Ex MPA Arif Yousaf, kids, families and a large number of people around Greater Manchester. On Occasion Tariq wazir and Mrs. Tariq wazir cut the cake in Joy.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Tariq Wazir said that celebrating the freedom of our country away from the homeland is a great reward from Allah, He said that we should pray for the freedom of Kashmiri brothers and sisters on the day of Independence. May Allah bless them with the blessing of freedom soon. He further said whatever the circumstances are back home, we should all be united and work hard for the prosperity of our country.
