Emmerdale has appeared to confirm that the famous Dingle family is about to get bigger.
This week, soap legend Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) finally remarried – almost a quarter of a century to the day of their first wedding.
In typical soap fashion though, their big day didn’t go plain sailing, as hours before the wedding Paddy called it off, following the discovery of Mandy’s racy side hustle.
As fans will recall, Mandy has been grappling with financial difficulties recently and has been concealing the truth from Paddy. She ended up becoming a financial dominatrix – but was caught out by Paddy’s father Bear (Joshua Richards).
Luckily, Mandy and Paddy patched things up and tied the knot – much to the delight of their fellow villagers, and fans. However, it was a touching moment between Mandy and son Vinny (Bradley Johnson), that got plenty of people talking.
Before walking down the aisle, Mandy was quizzed about her mother Vera-Lynn Dingle – and her absence from the wedding.
Son Vinny told her: “Paddy’s going to get the best wife and I’ve got the best mum.” He then quizzed: “Have you heard from your mum?” and Mandy told him: “You know I haven’t. Don’t be sad for me.
“Our Vera Lynne, she’s the gold medal winner of letting me down. But if I don’t expect anything then I don’t get pee’d off when she lets me down.”
Caleb Dingle was married to a woman called Vera-Lynn, and she is Mandy’s mum. Vera-Lynn’s never been seen on screen
Mandy’s mum Vera-Lynn has never been seen on screen, and in the past, fans have been told that Mandy’s mum died when she was a child.
However, with her mum actually alive, fans are convinced she could be heading to the Dales.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person mused: “Noticed that Vinnie asked Mandy if she’s heard from her mum.
“No idea which Dingle her mother is, has she ever been in it? But anyway…cue Mandys mums appearance…” they added. Someone else replied: “Are they opening the way for the arrival of another Dingle?”
A third proclaimed: “What! They’ve never mentioned Mandy’s mum before.” Another chimed in and wrote: “Pretty sure that means we’ll be seeing her soon.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
