Randolph County veteran to get new roof for free thanks to Greensboro roofing company

LIBERTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A Randolph County veteran will soon have a new roof over his head because of some generous donations.

5 Star Roofing and Restoration and roofing manufacturer GAF teamed up to provide Vietnam veteran Ed Lohr with a new roof in Liberty. Lohr served from 1969 to 1970.

“That’s a big expense,” Lohr said. “You know, I don’t know too many people that wouldn’t have to, you know, take out a loan or something to [get a new roof]. I mean it’s a blessing, and maybe I can help somebody else down the line, you know? And I don’t think you can out-give people. You know, the good Lord looks after you.”

The donation is part of 5 Star Roofing and Restoration’s Roofs of Honor program which provides roofs to local veterans in need.
