This Morning halted for ‘exciting news’ as Ben and Cat confirm return of presenter after 15 years

Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have confirmed that Fern Britton is set to make a return to ‘This Morning’. Following the commercial break, the presenting pair shared some “exciting news” with their audience.

“Hello and welcome back, we have got some exciting news for you,” said Ben with enthusiasm, as Cat added: “Really exciting.”

Ben revealed: “This autumn we have a lot of wonderful new content coming your way take a look.”

A clip was played, much to the delight of fans, showcasing former host Fern’s comeback. During the voiceover, Cat announced: “Welcome to the new season of This Morning and a new season with new adventures.”

The promotional video highlighted various upcoming features, including fresh fashion and antique segments, reports the Mirror.

Cat continued: “And one of those adventures sees the return of an old friend.”

Fern appeared on screen, casually asking, “Is this the piece to camera?” before realising they were rolling and quickly apologising with an “Oh sorry!”

Cat then declared: “Yes, it is hats off to Fern as she explores the Isles of Britain.” Fern was heard exclaiming: “Wow, this is a million-dollar view,” as the clip concluded.

Fern became a full-time presenter on ‘This Morning’ in 1999, co-hosting with Phillip Schofield until her departure a decade later when Holly Willoughby stepped into her shoes.

After Phillip and Holly departed from their roles last year, a rotation of hosts temporarily filled in until the announcement that Ben and Cat would be taking over as permanent fixtures on the show.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary stepped into Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes’s shoes, helming the Friday edition of This Morning.

Following a lengthy summer hiatus, Cat and Ben made their anticipated return to This Morning on Monday. They opened the programme by exchanging details about their summer activities.

“It is lovely to be back, did you have a nice summer? You look nice and tanned,” Ben remarked, appreciating Cat’s appearance.

“I had a really nice time,” responded Cat as she shared with her colleague: “Just hung out with the family. We went on holiday for a bit, and then we’re like, we’re all having such a nice time. shall we stay? How was yours? the boy is back, Annie must be so happy? “.

Ben offered a glimpse into his personal life, revealing: “Sam came home from travelling, which was very, very emotional. He’s been away for seven and a half months, off to university next week, back to school for lots of people today as well.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
