A man was arrested for murder early Saturday after a stabbing at the Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers homeless shelter in Uniontown.
Astoria police said Stephen Foxon, 58, had been trespassed from the shelter on W. Marine Drive on Friday but returned early Saturday.
Police said residents observed Foxon allegedly stabbing the victim at about 2:15 a.m. Police said they found Foxon on the Astoria Riverwalk and took him into custody just after 2:30 a.m.
The victim was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, police said, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Foxon was charged with murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, burglary in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
In 2018, Foxon was charged with attempted murder after a stabbing of an Astoria Rescue Mission worker. He pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree.
