According to Mark Divver, Buffalo Sabres prospect Vasili Zelenov has committed to play for the University of Wisconsin. The 6-foot winger will play this upcoming season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL).
Divver reported last week that Zelenov was generating “a ton” of interest from NCAA teams. Now, he has found his new school with Wisconsin and will look to make a significant impact for them once he makes the jump to the NCAA.
Zelenov, 18, was selected by the Sabres with the 204th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. He is coming off a strong season playing in Austria, posting 14 goals to go along with 37 points in 40 games.
Overall, Zelenov made a significant decision, as he has now picked the college where he will develop his game. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make with Wisconsin once he officially starts playing for them.
