The Racine Zoo’s Jack-O’-Lantern Nights return next week. Here’s what to know

The leaves are starting to yellow, the temperature is ticking down, and we’re days from the official start of fall — which means the spooky season is right around the corner.

Halloween festivities will soon kick off around Milwaukee, with the Racine Zoo’s Jack-O’-Lantern Nights starting as early as next week.

The festival will feature Halloween-themed sculptures and decorations, an expansive light display winding throughout the zoo, and, of course, plenty of intricately designed jack-o’-lanterns. Attendees can also purchase seasonal treats and participate in the annual decorating contest.

Here’s everything you need to know about Racine Zoo’s Jack-O’-Lantern Nights.

When are the Jack-O’-Lantern Nights?

The light show will run Thursday through Sunday from Sept. 26 to Nov. 3.

The show’s hours each day are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with final admission for the night at 9:30 p.m.

Where are the Jack-O’-Lantern Nights?

Jack-O’-Lantern Nights are at the Racine Zoo, at 2131 N. Main St., Racine, Wis.

The zoo has not yet announced its menu for the festival, but alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Attendees are not allowed to bring in any outside alcoholic beverages.

This year’s light show will also bring back a contest where local businesses and organizations battle it out for the best — or rather, spookiest — decorations. Attendees can vote on their favorite installation during their visit, and the zoo will announce a winner at the end of the festival’s run.

If you’re interesting in participating in the decorating contest, you can fill out an entry form and apply here.
