Sarah Hadland has admitted to ‘fancying’ her co-star but joked she ‘doesn’t have the energy’ to learn to dance and carry out a romance on Strictly Come Dancing. The actress is currently taking part in the BBC One dance contest with reigning champion Vito Coppola.
They were seen performing for the second time in the ballroom this series on Saturday night (September 28) with the pair wowing the judges with their striking paso doble to Freed From Desire by Gala Rizzatto which secured her a score of 32.
It brought Miranda star Sarah and dancer Vito’s total score to 62 after their impressive week one routine. Following their latest performance, judge Craig Revel Horwood told her the performance had “fire, attack, power, passion ā everything you would expect”.

But amidst their second performance of the 2024 series, Sarah has been speaking about her relationship with Vito after admitting to wanting to be paired with the Italian professional and ‘manifested’ their coupling after sniffing his shoe backstage.
The 53-year-old said when asked about having eyes for Vito when she first met him: “What a ridiculous question to ask me. Yes, I fancied him. Iām alive, arenāt I? If youāre female and have a heartbeat, how could he NOT be anybodyās type?”
She continued to The Sun: “The paso doble weāre doing this week is very serious and sensual, and when we started learning it I was very, very giggly. I kept the eye to camera because thereās a lot of, Iām going to call ātuppence to thighā… Thereās a lot of groin to thigh, and I have to look deep into his eyes ā which make it ten times worse.”
On falling victim to the so-called ‘Strictly curse’, the comedy star admitted: āI havenāt got energy for both, Iāll be honest ā I can either do the dance or have an affair, but I canāt do both. Iām committed to the dance now.”
Sarah and Vito have been tipped as early winners of Strictly 2024. But according to Vito, he’s not letting winning the competition last year with Ellie Leach define his journey with Sarah this year. “Yes, we feel the pressure, but not because Iām the champion, because itās another journey,” he told the publication.
“I define myself as a mirror teacher. I donāt have just one way of teaching and the celebrity or whatever student has to adapt on me ā itās the other way around. I adapt and I suit. Like, you know, when you build a dress on someone, no?
“The way I was teaching to [former Strictly partner] Fleur East is different to the way I was teaching Ellie. And itās different from the way that Iām teaching Sarah. That is why itās important to really get to know the person.”
