Aviation career fair returning to Reading Regional Airport

The Reading Aviation Career Expo is about to take flight once again.

The annual event will welcome visitors to the Reading Regional Airport on Oct. 19 for a chance to learn more about the Bern Township airfield, discover career opportunities in the aviation industry and attend several aviation seminars.

The festivities will be accompanied by food offerings and music.

This is the third edition of the festival to take place. Held in partnership with the Reading Aero Club, the event seeks to generate more interest in aviation jobs like pilot, aircraft maintenance technician, drone operator and air traffic controller.

Reading Regional Airport Director Zackary Tempesco said Thursday during a press conference that about 1,500 people attended the festival last fall.

“We want people of all ages to check out the airport,” he said. “And we would like to encourage any students interested in aviation to come out. There are a lot of opportunities in the aviation industry right now.”

Tempesco said he believes the event has possibly grown to be the biggest aviation career fairs on the East Coast.

The free event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine.

Those who attend the festival can expect to see:

• More than 30 exhibitors related to aviation. Those exhibitors include airline companies, colleges that offer aviation courses, corporations involved in the aviation industry, the Pennsylvania State Police and Top Flight of Reading.

• Flight simulators.

• A live aircraft rescue and firefighting demonstration.

• Aviation seminars throughout the day.

• Music provided by DJ Johnny D of the Sound Factory.

• Chances to win prizes.
