BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Janette Manrara ‘hates to say it’ as she takes co-star advice amid challenging time

Janette Manrara was left taking her co-star’s advice after sharing how she was having a bit of a challenging time at home. Earlier this week, the dancer and presenter admitted that things aren’t as bright and sparkly as they may seem on-screen when hosting the likes of Morning Live and It Takes Two.

She told fans how her ‘heart hurts’ as she gave a concerned update on her daughter, with the former Strictly Come Dancing pro currently juggling solo parenting and work while her husband Aljaz Skorjanec competes in the BBC One dance contest following his return of two years.

Earlier this week, Janette shared a video to her Instagram Story from the back of her car as she was taken into work, the mum-of-one appeared emotional with her eyes seemingly glazing over with tears.

Speaking about her one-year-old daughter Lyra, Janette explained in the typed-out caption of the post: “Confession moment here: Lyra has been unwell.” She continued: “We’ve discovered she has some kind of allergy to milk (will need to find out more). She’s broken out into a rash everywhere, but luckily she is okay with no fever, just fussy and wanting cuddles. She did not sleep at all the night before, but finally got some better sleep last night.

“Has to leave her w/ the babysitter this morning, before picking her up and going straight down to London. My heart hurts as I don’t want to leave her, but I know she will be okay. The guilt is just very strong. Put my sunshine jumper [on] to help me smile. She is our sunshine, and mum and dad are working hard to provide for her.”

Janette rounded off by saying: “To all working parents feeling guilt, WE’VE GOT THIS!!!” And she was quickly flooded with messages of support and later shared a look at some of those she had directly received.

Now, Janette has offered an update, as she was seen post-gym session on Thursday (October 3) ahead of her latest hosting stint on It Takes Two, and she took some advice from her Morning Live pal Gethin Jones.

She said in a video posted to her Instagram Story: “Hi team. So, the last couple of days have been crazy busy. All wonderful, just really busy but then you add on top of that that Lyra’s been unwell so I haven’t done much me looking after. I’ve just been worried about her, making sure I get to work and do the things I need to do.

“So I haven’t done much for me but I ran into a good old friend of mine today, named Gethin Jones, who reminded me that I do need to slow down every now and then and do me and you know what, I did exactly that.”

“I booked myself a little session in the gym – a little run and a little stretch – before I get to It Takes Two and I feel much better already. So I hate saying this, but, Gethin Jones was right,” she laughed.
