Single-vehicle crash into guardrail on Rt. 1 Thursday prompted traffic delays

The incident that caused Rt. 1 southbound in Milford to close Thursday, snarling traffic for two hours, was a single-car crash.

A car hit a guardrail and caught fire, Milford Police Department Sgt. Timothy Maloney said Friday. Fluids were released from the vehicle, which had to be assessed by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, he said.
