Marcus Rashford receives ‘unbelievable’ transfer instruction as Man United option emerges

Paul Gascoigne has urged Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United and shake his career up by making a move abroad.

The 26-year-old has been going through a difficult period at Old Trafford since scoring 30 goals during the 2022/23 season. Last campaign, he struggled to hit the same form and registered just eight goals.

Rashford showed his best display of the season to date in the 3-3 Europa League draw with FC Porto earlier this month. Prior to that, he was dropped for the trip to Crystal Palace and struggled against Twente and Tottenham which attracted criticism.

Having attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain, it’s reported the French champions have revived their interest after talks took place with the forward earlier this year, with the Ligue 1 side remaining a potential option for Rashford. Gascoigne believes it’s time for the England international to continue his career abroad.

“Yeah, definitely, I think so,” Gascoigne told SportsCasting when asked if he believes Rashford should leave United. “I love Rashford, I think heā€™s an unbelievable player but he just doesnā€™t seem to care.

“Even when he scores, he doesnā€™t seem happy about it so thereā€™s something going on there. If thatā€™s the case just move on. You get a couple of players that move on and then they find something different.

“For Rashford, he doesnā€™t seem happy playing in England anyway. And some good clubs will come in for him. Go to Italy, thatā€™ll shake him up.”

Gascoigne then went on to reminisce about his time in Serie A and suggested it would benefit Rashford. “It shook me up. I remember when I signed for Lazio, it was funny,” he added.

“I said to my Dad, ‘weā€™ll go and watch them for a week first.’ I watched the warm up and I went, ‘wow, thatā€™s some training session.’ And the coach went, ‘thatā€™s the warm-up.’ And I started crying a bit. I went, ‘Dad, thereā€™s no way I can do that. F*****g no way.’ Like 20 odd laps, just on a warm up. And then half an hour doing different stretches.

“My Dad went, ‘well, you better f*****g get used to it because Iā€™ve found a villa already and Iā€™m moving in there.’ Thatā€™ll shake him [Rashford] up a bit, going abroad.”
