Gemma Atkinson has been flooded with support and praise as she called out the ‘cowards’ who has been leaving messages about her appearance online.
While it’s not clear what comments were being posted on, it may have come after the Hits Radio host hit the red carpet with her beau Gorka Marquez as they reunited after weeks apart.
While they’re no stranger to it, the couple have been spending time in different parts of the country as dancer Gorka competes in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing with Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishan.

While they perform each weekend, they’re in the BBC One dance contest at the London-based studio; Gorka is also busy training alongside Dr Punam in Glasgow, where the practising GP is based, meaning he’s not able to be at home in Greater Manchester with Gemma and their two children.
But their diaries aligned over the weekend with Gemma heading down south for a few days work while Gorka and Punam stayed in the capital beyond Saturday night’s Strictly live show as they all made an appearance at the Pride of Britain Awards on Monday (October 21).
Gemma, 39, and Gorka, 34, were seen strutting their stuff in complementary black outfits. While Gemma dazzled in an off-the-shoulder black gown that boasted oversized sleeves, ruched detailing and a thigh-high split, Gorka opted for the no-shirt look, covering up with a structured blazer and matching trousers which both featured intrictate floral detailing with touches of sparkle.
The loved-up couple both took to social media where they shared a string of pictures and videos in which they could be seen posing up a storm. In one of the shots, both Gemma and Gorka could be seen giving their best serious yet sultry looks to the camera before they were also seen lovingly looking and smiling at one another in other snaps.
But it appears Gemma may have been subject to a torrent of negative comments about her appearance, with one troll saying she looked ‘manly’ and another saying she needs to ‘lay off the daily workouts’.
Screenshots of the comments appeared one by one in a video posted to her Instagram alongside which she wrote: “Remember, people like this will always exist. Jealous and insecure because you’re doing something they can’t. Full of self hate because you’re happy and full of self doubt because you’re so confident…
“Don’t let that stop you being YOU!” the former Hollyoaks star added before sharing various pictures of her doing Thai boxing, work outs in the gym and looking like she’s loving every minute not matter how hard it may feel.
Alongside the video, Gemma wrote to her fans and followers: “At school, at work or on the internet people like this will always exist. DO NOT let it stop you being you! No one can make me change how I view myself or my body. Especially some coward behind a computer.”
And the messages of support quickly came flooding in. Strictly It Takes Two host Fleur East said: “Ha ha I love this! Not that you need the validation, but your strength is inspiring and I don’t mean just physical strength. I mean, mentally, the focus you have. Crack on mama!!” Pro dancer Karen Hauer commented: “Yes Gemma.” Reality star Fearne McCann replied: “Hell yes. You inspire me. You’re strong and beautiful.”
@crobinson1982 posted: “I said to my husband this morning that the photo of you and Gorka on the stairs you posted was the most beautiful piccy ever!! Jealous people need to keep their opinions to themselves! #strongisbeautiful.” @x.alexsmith.x posted: “I’d kill to look like you. My absolute woman crush!”
@anniesfitnesssteyning shared: “You look amazing!!! Continue doing what you love. Happy, healthy and smashing it.” @sammie_ann_simp typed: “I think you look amazing and you’re an amazing role model for women everywhere.” @caz.turner added: “Ignore the haters – you look incredible! Keep doing your thing.”
