Of course, the Motor City, home to the auto industry would have a collection of places to get a vehicle washed. However, a local spot offers a new experience for customers around Halloween.
Mr. Spotless, located in the 3800 block of Vernor Highway, has done haunted car washes for the last four years, providing a spooky experience for customers who are looking for a thrill during the spooky Halloween season.
“We have a great time doing it, my family helps me out a lot. They dress up in clown costumes and scare people as they get their car washed. It’s a great time,” said owner Fathel Alley.

Mr. Spotless, which first opened its doors in 2016, is the first to do a haunted experience in Michigan, according to Alley. He says the car wash also provides employment to nontraditional English speakers, who may struggle in other places due to a language barrier.
“We have a four-employee team and I get messages all the time on Facebook saying people love them,” said Alley. “You don’t even need to speak to the customer at the car wash, so they’re a perfect fit here.”
Mr. Spotless’ haunted car wash runs from Oct. 25-31. Go to its Facebook page for more information.
