A serious crash involving several buses has seen at least 13 people rushed to hospital. The incident, which happened on the edge of Manchester city centre on Saturday morning, has sparked a huge emergency response.
Police, fire and North West Ambulance Services are in attendance on Rochdale Road, while an air ambulance has also landed in a car park adjacent to the busy route. According to eyewitnesses there is severe disruption, and debris has been strewn across the road.
Images from the scene appear to show one Bee Network bus has collided with the rear of another, Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and motorists should make alternative travel arrangements where possible. Eyewitnesses told the MEN one bus had “gone into” another, while another bus had “gone through a metal fence”.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) told the MEN: “At around 8.45am this morning (Saturday 9 November), two fire engines from Phillips Park and Broughton fire stations were called to a crash involving two buses on Rochdale Road, Manchester.
“Crews arrived quickly and worked with Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe. Firefighters extricated one person from the upper deck of the bus and 13 casualties were transferred to North Manchester General Hospital under the care of North West Ambulance Service. Fire crews were in attendance for just over an hour.”
