Cheryl Tweedy will discuss her son, Bear Payne, in a new TV interview, filmed before the tragic death of Liam Payne.
The interview will air in the days following the funeral of the former One Direction star and will mark her first TV appearance since Payne’s passing at the age of 31 in Argentina last month.
The 41-year-old singer, who shares son Bear with the singer, has remained relatively out of the public eye since the news broke.
Following his death on October 16, Cheryl shared a heartfelt message with fans, stating: “Liam was not only a pop star and a celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend, and a father to our seven-year-old son, a son who now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
It’s still unclear whether the Girls Aloud star, who separated from Liam in 2018, will attend the funeral in Wolverhampton or bring Bear along to say goodbye.
Payne tragically passed after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, leading to charges being filed against three individuals.
The Show hitmaker has largely stayed out of the spotlight since her emotional tribute to Payne last month.
However, she will make a return to our screens over the weekend, just before the airing of The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2. The special coincides with what would have been Sarah Harding’s 43rd birthday, and the surviving members of Girls Aloud will also be featured in an interview with ITV.
The interview, which was filmed on October 8, will see her and her Girls Aloud bandmates Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh, chat with presenter Ben Shephard, has been released on ITVX ahead of the upcoming concert film.
During the chat, the band members reflected on their successful reunion tour, which featured 30 shows across the UK and Ireland.
Roberts spoke about the challenges of the music industry, noting: “The music industry is such a young place, and when you’re that young, surrounded by ageism, you think you could never possibly do this at our age.”
Cheryl expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reunite with her bandmates 22 years after Girls Aloud first formed on Popstars: The Rivals. Reflecting on their journey, she shared how the band felt “fortunate” to reconnect, and admitted they “became a bit cooler” with their kids as they joined them on tour earlier this year.
