“Barry McGuigan should play Mrs Brown’s long lost sister as he and Brendan O’Carroll are very similar,” another said. A final fan wrote: “Not me just finding out that Barry is a boxer and not the actor who plays Mrs Brown from Mrs Browns Boys.”

Introducing Barry at the start of the show, presenter Declan Donnelly said that the former world championship boxer either had to do the ITV reality show or “fight a YouTuber on Netflix”.

Barry was selected by camp leaders singer Tulisa Contostavlos and Corrie star Alan Halsall to do the first trial, alongside Danny Jones from McFly. The trial saw the pair locked in a rectangular chambers as snakes crawled over them.

Barry had difficulties opening the padlocks to get stars and admitted to Danny he “couldn’t help him”, calling himself “useless” as he failed to get any locked open. Danny managed to win the pair five stars.
