Norwegian supplier Vestdavit has installed boat-handling systems on CSOV Olympic Notos, a newbuild vessel delivered by Ulstein Verft to Olympic.
The package includes two H-9001 davits, two L-3500 liferaft davits, and a PL-3600 MOB davit, all tailored to meet the vessel’s specific operational needs.
Manufactured at Vestdavit’s facility in Poland, the davits were sourced from European suppliers and comply with the latest standards and regulations.
CSOV Olympic Notos, alongside its sistership Olympic Boreas, features Ulstein’s TWIN X-STERN solution, which enables precise dynamic positioning and minimises the need for thruster power thereby reducing fuel consumption by nearly 50%.
The design of the CSOVs incorporates a dual-stern hull shape, which enhances operability, along with a hybrid propulsion system, battery storage, and smart energy management.
Vestdavit managing director Rolf Andreas Wigand said: “We are honoured to have been selected by Ulstein for participation in this ground-breaking newbuild project based on our well-established track record of reliable davit deliveries for the offshore wind and oil and gas markets, with systems designed for optimal performance to maximise the operational window of support vessels working in this space.”
Ulstein chose Vestdavit’s compact davit solution as it was claimed to be the only one that fit the Olympic Notos’ design.
The H-9001 davit system on the Olympic Notos is adaptable for various lifeboats and rescue boats, providing multi-functional support for diverse marine operations.
The L-3500 system ensures efficient liferaft launch in tough marine conditions, while the PL-3600 davit is suitable for different boat types, including rescue and workboats.
Vestdavit’s davits feature anti-pendulation and failsafe constant tension for enhanced stability, and programmable logic control for automated operations.
In August this year, Vestdavit received an order for the supply of high-specification davits for six vessels in the Canadian Coast Guard fleet.
“Vestdavit equips CSOV Olympic Notos with advanced davits” was originally created and published by Ship Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
