Will Savannah see snow this winter? Here’s what Farmers’ Almanac predicts for 2024-25

As we approach the end of the year, many Georgians are wondering if they’ll see snow this year. Snow is certainly rare in Savannah, but it has happened, most recently in 2018. According to the Old Farmers’ Almanac, winter 2024/25 is shaping up to be a “calmer, gentler” winter for the U.S.

How cold will winter be this year, according to the Old Farmers’ Almanac?

In the eastern part of the U.S., it will be cooler than normal. In the west, it will be warmer than normal.

For the Southeast region, including Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, the precipitation is predicted to be above normal.

However, cold snaps are forecasted to hit during the final week of January into early February, bringing frigid conditions.

So, while Georgia might not see consistent snow throughout winter, those cold snaps in late January and early February could bring some wintry weather to the Peach State.

What is the Farmers’ Almanac?

While the almanac certainly isn’t scientific, it provides a brief summary as to why people still turn to it for long-term forecasts.

“For over 200 years, the Farmers’ Almanac has been predicting long-range weather forecasts to help you plan ahead. These forecasts are created using a tried-and-true formula that adapts to the mysteries of nature and the ever-changing world in which we live. The basis of our prediction method was developed by our founding editor according to correlations between celestial events and various meteorological conditions.”
