POLICE NEWS: Poor road conditions cause of morning crash

Nov. 22—A Granger woman was hospitalized after her truck flipped due to the poor road conditions Friday morning.

Katie Kiner, 35, of Granger, was traveling south on C.R. 1 crossing the overpass of the Indiana Toll Road at 7:29 a.m. Friday. Elkhart County deputies report that the bridge was icy and she lost control of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado she was driving and the truck struck a guardrail on the passenger’s side and then one on the other side before flipping.

Kiner was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for neck pain.

HIT-AND-RUN

—A 38-year-old woman reported to Goshen police at 2:59 p.m. Thursday her vehicle was hit by another in a parking lot in the 200 block of South Main Street.

—The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:34 p.m. Thursday on Ind. 15 north of Waterford Mills Parkway where a 2005 Hyundai Tucson and a 2021 Tesla Model X were involved in a crash but the Tucson left the scene.

ARRESTS

A 31-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Goshen police at 2:18 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of meth and outstanding warrants after he was found in the back of a vehicle in the parking lot of 7-Eleven, 2220 Elkhart Road.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

The Elephant Bar, 227 S. Main St., reported to Goshen police at 12:30 p.m. Thursday finding a swastika on a corkboard inside its bathroom.

THEFT

—A 50-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between Tuesday and Wednesday night, someone stole change, credit and debit cards, a driver’s license, prescriptions, and tools from a 2015 GMC Terrain in the 12000 block of York Hills Drive in Middlebury.

—A 66-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 someone stole a dealer registration plate off a vehicle at RC Sales and Leasing, 23247 U.S. 33.
