One dead after shooting in west Lubbock

One person is dead after a reported shooting late Thursday in west Lubbock.

Police responded at 11:04 p.m. Thursday to a report of shots fired in the 6100 block of 26th St., according to a statement from Lubbock police.

Upon arrival, police found one person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The person, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and police did not immediately release a suspect description as the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting.
